Todd Bowles Should Not Be Fired
Huffington Post - 2 months
In many a Jets fan website, hotheads are clamoring for the head of NY Jets HC Todd Bowles. Fire him they insist and point out his coaching errors (not going for a fourth down here or a two-point conversion there, sticking to Ryan Fitzpatrick way past his expiration date, etc., etc.); and they darkly insinuate that he has lost the team (I am still waiting for conclusive evidence on this one). However, firing Bowles would be a huge mistake in my book. Now, I am not denying that the 2016 NY Jets are an awful team, one of the worst in the NFL. We struggled against the (still) winless Browns and had to go to OT to defeat the 49ers who last won in the season opener. This assessment will stand even in the unlikely occasion that we pick up one or more additional victories against the Buffalo Bills who are in turmoil with the rumored expected firing of Rex Ryan, the Miami Dolphins who probably had their QB Ryan Tannehill suffer a torn ACL or the indifferent New England Patriots who will ha ...

Philadelphia Eagles: Mock Draft 3.0- Marcus Mariota Edition
isports web - almost 2 years
This is part 3 of my Philadelphia Eagles mock draft series. In the first two I showed possible picks for the Eagles if their targets/fits slid or were picked early, respectively. The point of this series is to show the different possibilities and that anything can happen on draft day. If someone tells you what team is picking who in what round, then they are just being silly. That, or they climbed the same mountain King Leonidas did and spoke with The Oracle of Delphi. “THIS IS PHILLY!” Part 3 is the mock draft where I give into my better judgement and project a blockbuster draft day trade, propelling Philly into a top 10 spot in order to select Chip Kelly’s dream-boy, Marcus Mariota. This is, of course, a hypothetical, but I will attempt to map out what that situation would look like. The most likely, or at least easiest to envision, scenario to acquire Mariota would involve a 3-way (not the fun kind) trade between the Eagles, Browns, and a team in the holding a pick in the to ...

Hispanics Consider This The Most Serious Health Risk To Their Families
Huffington Post - about 3 years
Cancer is the number one killer of Hispanics in the United States according to American Cancer Society research released in the later part of 2012. After that, heart disease tops the list as the most prominent health risk to the community. Despite the numbers, however, a recent poll from NPR/Robert Wood Johnson Foundation/Harvard School of Public Health indicates Hispanics see diabetes as the most serious risk to the health of their families. More than three times as many Hispanics were concerned about diabetes than were concerned with cancer. “These findings are surprising,” Robert J. Blendon, Sc.D., Richard L. Menschel Professor of Health Policy and Political Analysis at the Harvard School of Public Health, said in a statement. “Previous polls have shown that Latinos see cancer as the most important health problem facing the country. But when asked about their own families, Latinos cite diabetes as the biggest problem.” According to the poll, approximately 19 percent of Hispanic ...
