Spokeo People Search is a unique people search engine that many recruiters, lawyers, law enforcement officers, and the general public use to find people’s activities across various social networks and online databases. Spokeo’s real-time, email-based search technology is known to be the best way to locate people’s digital identities across the Web.
We are sorry if Spokeo doesn’t meet your expectations at this time. Everyone here is very receptive to new ideas, so we greatly encourage you to contact us about any possible difficulty. That said, you may deactivate your account at any time without any question asked. Please note that you must be logged into your account to deactivate it for security reasons.
3. Why can’t I register with my email?
Please double-check if you’ve entered the correct email address + password combination, and make sure that the capitalization is correct. If you’re still unable to sign up through the homepage, please sign up through API Authentication or through Email Verification. Sometimes our proprietary technology cannot authenticate certain types of email accounts, so you would have to sign up through alternative means.
4. Will Spokeo email my contacts?
No, we do not email your contacts in any way for any purpose. When you search for someone, or when you import an address book, we do not email or notify any of the searched contacts. We have several security checks in place to ensure the integrity of your contacts data. In Spokeo, your reading privacy and search anonymity are 100% protected.
5. Can anyone know who I am searching?
No, all your Spokeo searches are completely anonymous. Spokeo is not a social network where people meet new friends online; rather, Spokeo is a search engine that people use to research others’ information. Spokeo does not notify anyone about what you are reading, and Spokeo does not disclose your search history.
6. Why Spokeo searches take a while?
All Spokeo searches are conducted in real time. Spokeo does not pre-crawl the Web like conventional search engines; rather, Spokeo finds and retrieves content from over 40 data sources in real time as you search for it. The advantage of this unconventional approach is that Spokeo results are not limited by the size of our database, and that Spokeo data are always up-to-date. The disadvantage is that you would have to wait couple seconds for the real-time results to come back from different sources.
7. Why Spokeo hasn’t been updating?
We cannot check your friends’ websites every second because that would overwhelm third-party’s servers. To maximize content freshness within the update frequency constraints, we’ve designed a sophisticated update scheduler that statistically calculates when your friends will post new updates, then schedules our servers to re-crawl their content. The update frequency varies from data source to data source, and it ranges from three hours to couple days. Please contact us if you believe certain data should be updated more frequently.
8. Can I search people by name?
No, Spokeo only supports email-based and username-based searches at the moment. Emails and usernames are unique identifiers for people’s digital identities on the Web; on the other hand, real names are usually hidden from public web pages. As a result, generally real-name searches are only good for offline public record searches, and they require a very different technology from Spokeo’s digital identity search.
9. How to hide my content from Spokeo?
Spokeo only finds publicly available content from over 40 supported services. If you don’t want to be found, simply make your content private on the original content-hosting service. Spokeo’s Privacy Mirroring technology will discover your new privacy settings the next time it re-crawls your content, and then Spokeo will reflect the latest privacy changes in its cache.
10. What services does Spokeo support?
Spokeo supports over 40+ data sources, including but not limited to social networks, photo albums, music playlists, video sites, business databases, and any RSS feed. The level of support varies from network to network because different networks require different connectivity technologies. Consequently, some networks support only search functionality; whereas, others support both import and search capabilities. Spokeo does not aggregate criminal histories, court records, and other legal documents at this time.
