Written by September 17, 2013

2014 Miss America

The Miss America Pageant crowned Nina Davuluri as the 2014 Miss America this past Sunday in Atlantic City. Nina is the second consecutive Miss New York to win the  title and is the first Indian-American to wear the national crown.

Today also marks the day, 30 years ago, when Vanessa Williams (also Miss New York) made history and was crowned as the first African-American Miss America. Nina and Vanessa, who both also began as Miss Syracuse, are planning to meet one another this week and celebrate the new title. Vanessa has invited Nina to her broadway play, “The Trip to Bountiful” starring Williams, Cicely Tyson and Cuba Gooding Jr.

Congrats to Nina on her new title and happy to anniversary to Ms. Williams!
