Your Privacy

Spokeo People Search finds only publicly available information by default. Previously this information had been scattered across the Web and ignored by major search engines.  Spokeo is the first service to aggregate this user-generated content from over 40 Web services, giving you new insight into your friends’ online content.

1. CONTENT PRIVACY

Spokeo preserves and protects the privacy of all third-party content. Spokeo users can only access content that they’ve already had access to.  All users can access publicly available information. Only users with  access to private content on a third party site can access that same private content in Spokeo.  For example, if you can find a friend on MySpace, you can also do so on Spokeo.  If you cannot see your friend’s private account on Flickr, you still cannot see it on Spokeo.  Spokeo verifies private content access through its authentication system.

2. SEARCH & READING PRIVACY

In Spokeo, your reading privacy and search anonymity are 100% protected.  When you search for someone, or when you import an address book, we do not notify or email any of your contacts in any way.  Spokeo is not a social network where people try to meet new friends; rather, it’s a search engine that people use to research about others.  Just like Google, Spokeo will not disclose your search activities to anyone.

3. PRIVACY PROTECTION

Spokeo’s Privacy Mirroring Technology can detect the latest privacy settings of your content, and then update our database accordingly.  If you don’t want to be found, simply make your content private on the original content-hosting service.  Spokeo will automatically reflect the changes in a couple of days.
