Telephone scammers/identity thieves from phone number (786) 323-8978 in Miami, FL On 10/02/13 at 6:50 PM, My Mom received a phone call in Spanish from an individual by the name Renato Mendoza agent # 93259810 claiming to be from Florida Power and Light Collection and Disconnection Department, stating that her account was two months behind and that her power was going to be disconnected, if she didn’t make an immediate payment over the phone. Since I knew her account was current, I realized this was an attempt to steal her identity and I refused to provide any information. Also her FPL account is not under her name. I am sure a lot of Spanish speaking and other people are falling for this scam. These people need to be stopped and put behind bars, where they belong. I called FPL and confirmed no one from there called us. I was advised to report it to Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Report at 1-800-435-7352 and also to file a police report. Beware!!!
