Renacci's 16th District Republican Congressman Jim Renacci is running for governor, leaving an open seat in the district that stretches from the west side suburbs of Cleveland south to Wayne County and east to Portage County. On the Republican side, former NFL player Anthony Gonzalez has raised the most money, followed by State Rep. Christina Hagan of Alliance. Kit Seryak , an Army veteran from Rocky River, and Darrell Hartman of Akron have also filed to run. Two Democrats have filed with the Federal Election Commission: Aaron Paul Godfrey of North Olmsted and Mark Dent from Berea. Following the “Breaking Bad” finale in 2013, it’d be easy to assume White (Bryan Cranston) was dead, right? Let’s review the evidence: In the final episode, we see White remotely fire a machine gun from his car’s trunk into the Neo-Nazi hideout, killing nearly everyone and also apparently injuring himself. He starts bleeding a lot. After telling Lydia (Laura ...

Bill Paxton Had A Way Of Sneaking Up On You
Huffington Post - 12 months
You can walk down the street of almost any American town and see a thousand people who look like Bill Paxton. For someone aiming to be an actor, a field where a distinctive look matters, that may not sound promising. Paxton turned it into an asset, parlaying a familiar exterior into dozens of movie and television characters who ranged from the father of Texas to a calculating polygamist to a loud cynical cop. As far as the world knew, Paxton was still right in the middle of playing that cop – Frank Roarke on the new CBS series Training Day – when it was announced that he had died Saturday, age 61, after “complications from surgery.” His death stunned the movie and TV communities, where he had been a popular presence for more than 30 years. Colleagues from Tom Hanks, Rob Lowe, Jamie Lee Curtis and Elijah Wood to Aaron Paul and Charlize Theron tweeted reverent goodbyes while director James Cameron, who cast Paxton in films like Titanic, remembered their taking a submarine down to...

Hollywood Talent Agency Ditches Usual Oscar Party In Favor Of Anti-Trump Rally
Huffington Post - 12 months
In a typical year, the United Talent Agency, like so many other talent agencies, throws a big shindig in the lead-up to the Academy Awards. But after President Donald Trump decided to sign an executive order banning people from seven predominately Muslim countries, as well as all refugees, the agency quickly decided this wasn’t a typical year.  “Having a big fun celebration to celebrate the accomplishments of our industry just didn’t feel right,” United Talent Agency CEO Jeremy Zimmer told the Los Angeles Times. So, the agency decided to throw an anti-Trump rally instead. On Friday, the agency held what it called a united voices rally at the company’s office in Beverly Hills in support of immigrant rights and in opposition to Trump’s policies.  “I have nothing against parties,” Zimmer said. “But I felt that this could also be a moment to stand up and say, ‘Something’s wrong. This doesn’t feel right. And we need to pay attention to how this feels at this time in this co...

Aaron Paul thriller 'Come and Find Me' is worth tracking down

The involving, well-told thriller “Come and Find Me” is a “Gone Girl”-ish look at love, deception and danger that, unlike the Ben Affleck hit, never doubts its main man’s sincerity. Here's A Tragic Thing You Didn't Know About Helen Mirren
Huffington Post - over 1 year
The doodlebug -- or V-1 flying bomb -- was an early, drone-like cruise missile that the Nazi Luftwaffe aerial force debuted during World War II. The Luftwaffe would use the doodlebugs to attack London, where actress Helen Mirren's parents lived during the war. "They were by far the worst because [as Mirren's mother told her] you would hear them coming over and if you heard the drone -- the buzz up there in the sky -- if you heard that noise stop, that's when it was dropping its load," said Mirren during a phone interview with The Huffington Post. "So you would just pray it went over your head." Mirren recalled this memory from her family's history as she was promoting her movie "Eye in the Sky," in which she plays a British colonel tasked with deciding whether to use a drone strike in Nairobi, Kenya. Her character has tracked the location of an extremist meeting, but must choose whether to take out the terrorists at the cost of killing a young girl who is selling bread right o...
