US ski team: Lindsey Vonn could return to WCup next week
Yahoo News - over 1 year
FILE - In this Feb. 15, 2016 file photo Mikaela Shiffrin of the U.S. celebrates during the podium ceremony after winning the women's Slalom race at the Alpine Ski World Cup in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. The first overall World Cup champion from Switzerland in more than two decades, Lara Gut starts her title defense as one of the favorites again when the season gets underway on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016. As US athlete Lindsey Vonn has announced to compete in a reduced number of races and Austria's Anna Veith (former Anna Fenninger) has postponed her return from injury, Shiffrin could well become Guts closest challenger. Fenninger dashes Vonn's hopes to win super-G title
Yahoo News - about 3 years
Austria's Anna Fenninger silenced the American crowd who had come hoping their star Lindsey Vonn would give them a winning start to the ski world championships on Tuesday as she added the super-G world title to her Olympic crown. Fenninger, who took full advantage of an injured Vonn to win the World Cup Overall title last season, charged down the Raptors course in 1min 10.29 sec topping an earlier run by defending champion Tina Maze, who clocked 1:10.32. "I have dreamed about this," Fenninger said. Vonn, who is in the midst of a remarkable comeback after two knee operations and leads the World Cup super-G standings, finished third in 1:10.44.
