Though the bus was ready to depart for a nearby hotel, Artistic Director Thea Kano told the...

ABC's 'Dirty Dancing' Remake Became Cringey Real Fast

Why mess with a classic? (Seriously, though: Why?) Early promos did little to dispel the fear that the remake was a hot mess waiting to happen; reviews that came in right before the special’s airtime didn’t help, either.  The new version wasn’t totally reprehensible — Sarah Hyland, Debra Messing and Nicole Scherzinger are all charming, and J. Quinton Johnson...

Honey, The 'Will & Grace' Revival Trailer Is A Gay Musical Extravaganza
Huffington Post - 9 months
Will, Grace, Karen and Jack are ready for their close-up.  NBC released the first trailer for the “Will & Grace” revival on Monday during the network’s upfront presentation, and, honey, it’s everything you loved about the classic sitcom and more.  The nearly six-minute clip finds Eric McCormack trying to convince a reluctant Debra Messing to revive “Will & Grace” by bringing her to the show’s old set. There, they find Megan Mullally as Karen, who’s apparently been taking a “cat nap” on the apartment couch for the last decade, and Sean Hayes’ Jack who’s showing the space to a studly potential tenant.  Before we know it, Messing launches into a full-blown musical dream sequence to the tune of “As If We Never Said Goodbye” from the musical “Sunset Boulevard.”  Replacing the song’s lyrics with playful jabs at her “Will & Grace” family, like “tightly wound queer” and “the drunk who’s bi,” Messing and cast come together in song, as they dance, selfie ...

Debra Messing Goes After Ivanka Trump In Scathing GLAAD Acceptance Speech
Huffington Post - 10 months
Debra Messing directly addressed first daughter Ivanka Trump on Saturday night while being honored at the 2017 GLAAD Media Awards in New York City. The “Will & Grace” star spoke as “one Jewish mother to another” while delivering her acceptance speech, which was at turns hilarious and biting. After thanking the LGBTQ advocacy organization for her Excellence in Media Award, Messing noted that unless you’re an “unenlightened straight, cisgender, white man, you are a target.” She then slammed President Donald Trump, calling him the “very bad and very orange man in our White House.” But the actress and activist reserved the brunt of her scorn for Ivanka Trump, who operates in an official capacity as an unpaid assistant to the president. Messing told the audience full of advocates, journalists and celebrities that she wanted to make a “direct appeal” to the first daughter, whom she referred to as “the secretary of state.” “It’s not enough to simply say that wom...

Susan Sarandon Goes In On 'Trumpian' Debra Messing For Being Uninformed
Huffington Post - 10 months
We all know Andy Cohen warms his West Village apartment at night by stoking the fires of Susan Sarandon and Debra Messing’s Twitter feud, so of course he turned the temperature all the way up when the Oscar winner returned to the clubhouse. On Monday’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Sarandon stopped by to promote her new film, “3 Generations,” with Naomi Watts and confirmed that her feud with the “Will & Grace” actress is still very much alive.  “She’s not very well informed and so sometimes she gets in areas that she really hasn’t thought through, maybe? She’s Trumpian a little bit like that,” Sarandon told Cohen. “So, I don’t have anything against her personally. I just, sometimes I have to say, ‘But you don’t have the information.’” Apparently, the two saw each other at ... we didn’t see this one coming ... a New York Rangers game, as both are dedicated fans. But, according to Sarandon, Messing had nothing to say to her in person ...

There’s no denying that the beloved NBC sitcom blazed trails, becoming one of the first series to feature openly gay lead characters on prime-time television. But ahead of the highly anticipated revival, some fans are concerned. In the decade since Will, Grace, Jack...
