Huey Morgan and the fine art of the TV walkout
Guardian (UK) - over 4 years
Following Huey Morgan's mug-smashing antics on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, who else has seen the red mist descend on TV? Never Mind The Buzzcocks loomed large in everyone's cultural consciousness for the first time in a long time this week, as Huey Morgan, the radio presenter once of 90s lounge lizards Fun Lovin' Criminals, smashed a mug in explosive fashion before storming off just before the credits rolled. Reading on mobile? Click here to watch Morgan has form in violent outbursts, having ranted extensively on Twitter after failing to win a Sony radio award. Back then he fearlessly put shock-jock firebrands like Lauren Laverne and Fearne Cotton in his crosshairs, and now he's managed to get wound up by Rizzle Kicks' brand of ASOS-clad bantz. No doubt he'll have a full-on murderous Falling Down moment on next year's I'm A Celebrity after one of Lawson flicks him with a towel. But Morgan is far from the first person to see the red mist unexpectedly descend while on a light entert...

Louise Court: Cosmopolitan's Awards Countdown
Huffington Post - over 5 years
The day before Cosmo's Ultimate Women of the Year Awards is rather like going into labour. You know it's going to hurt, but something you really love will come out of it. With our seventh awards taking place tonight, I'm seriously excited - but, like any expectant parent, nervous too. My team have put months and months of hard work into the event - from securing a new venue (the glorious V&A), to shortlisting nominees, chasing celebrity guests and filling goodie bags. Right now it's the really hard part - we're at that stage where we have to put our hands up and admit that we've done everything we can to make it brilliant, but there are certain things we cannot control. Extreme weather being one of them. While Hurricane Sandy has clearly not had anything like the devastating effect on us that it has on millions of New Yorkers, its arrival has caused some problems. Our Ultimate International TV Actress, Melissa George, is currently stranded in New York, but has tweet...

Alan Dee’s guide to the pick of the week’s TV
The Bucks Herald - almost 6 years
SATURDAY The Million Pound Drop Live (Channel 4, 9.45pm) Why has this quiz show become such a hit? Well, the size of the prize is definitely a draw. The fact it’s live also adds to the tension, but perhaps its main selling-point is the fact it’s interactive. Once upon a time viewers would have been screaming the right answers at the TV, but now the advent of the internet means devotees can play along at home and see if they really would have done any better themselves. Naturally, the contestants would point out that playing online under an alias is very different from answering the questions on live TV with an actual pile of £50 notes in front of you, so let’s hope they can keep their cool in the last episode of the current series. Sunday Vera (ITV1, 9pm) Brenda Blethyn is back for a new run as DCI Vera Stanhope, bringing bad people to book on her patch in Northumberland. The first story sees Vera reunited with her first ever sergeant, Stuart Macken in tragic circumstances. ...
