Sorry Internet, But Men Have Been Wearing Chokers For Decades
Huffington Post - about 1 year
The internet had their chokers a little too tightly wound on Tuesday when word spread that Asos offers chokers for men. Just one day later, Matt Lauer got some attention on the “Today” show for trying one on: What a time. — Maura Brannigan (@maura_brannigan) January 4, 2017 But we cannot sit idly by a second longer without calling attention to the fact that a) everyone should wear whatever they want, whenever they want and b) men have been wearing chokers for decades. It is in that spirit that we present to you some of our favorite men-in-choker moments, in no particular order, because they are all equally epic, gosh darn it.   Jared Leto as Jordan Catalano in “My So-Called Life”  OK, we lied. This one is our favorite. Jordan Catalano forever.  Mick Jagger Waiting to see a replica of this one on the internet in 3..2.. Melissa Joan Hart Disses And Dishes On Famous Dudes She's Kissed
Huffington Post - over 4 years
Melissa Joan Hart's tell-all book "Melissa Explains It All" is the gift that keeps on giving. By reading the 37-year-old's memoir we've already learned that the former teen star's past was not as squeaky clean as we remembered it to be, nor was she particularly fond of her feline co-star on her hit show "Sabrina The Teenage Witch." But photo shoots on ecstasy aren't quite as surprising as Hart's willingness to kiss (and diss) and tell. Perhaps Hart has a solid relationship with co-star Joey Lawrence, who she currently stars opposite on the ABC Family sitcom, "Melissa & Joey," because she doesn't exactly have kind things to say about kissing him in her book: “Joey Lawrence uses enough lip balm for both of us, creating such a thick barrier that there’s hardly any skin-on-skin contact. It’s hard to get turned on when it feels like you’re kissing one of Madam Tussaud’s wax statues.” The former Nickelodeon star did, however, have much better things to say about her 1996 "Sab...

18 Signs You Were Born In The '80s
Huffington Post - over 4 years
You totally had this poster on your wall. "Saved by the Bell" pretty much defined Saturday mornings. Just as Friday nights meant TGIF. You had the biggest crush on Joey Lawrence. You still know every word to the "Fresh Prince" theme song. When "My So-Called Life" premiered, it was as if the writers had climbed inside your head. The first R-rated movie you saw was "Pretty Woman." Sometimes you wished that the Tanners were your real family. And that Cory, Topanga and Shawn were your real friends. You wanted to be Cher Horowitz (or at least, have her wardrobe). Your first album may have been by them. Or them. You debated the merits of the Backstreet Boys vs. 'N Sync. And TLC vs. Destiny's Child. You dressed as one of the Spice Girls for Halloween. You imagined college would be just like "Felicity." And adulthood would be like "Friends." Or "Will & Grace."

Huffington Post article 'Cousin Oliver' Round-Up: 9 of TV's Inexplicably Added Children
Huffington Post - over 4 years
In The Brady Bunch's fifth and final season, all of the Brady kids were looking a little long in the tooth: Marcia had crow's feet, Greg was using a walker, and Cindy traded in her ruffled socks and Mary Janes for sensible support hose and orthopedic shoes. America was sickened to see a Brady over the age of 12. As a last-minute gambit to salvage the show, eight-year-old Cousin Oliver joined the family, and oh, the hijinks and hilarity that ensued. We're guessing the kid had some repressed issues: his parents ditched him with the Bradys while they went on an archeological dig in South America. In the course of his first day with the family, Oliver managed to ruin Jan's painting, cover Greg in ketchup, crack a terracotta pot, undo Carol's knitting, break a stack of dishes, and shatter a lamp. (Every scene with Cousin Oliver ended in the "wuh, wuh, wuh" sound effect.) Five episodes later, Oliver managed to kill the entire series (it was cancelled that season). However, t...

Is Joey Leaving For Another Job?
Huffington Post - over 4 years
The season premiere of "Melissa & Joey" was a tense one, as Joey (Joey Lawrence) felt he didn’t have much of a purpose in the house anymore now that the kids are self-sufficient. Melissa (Melissa Joan Hart) wasn’t happy when Joey suggested it was time for him to move on to another job. “This is about you and me. It’s pretty obvious. I’ve felt it for a long time, too,” Joey said.“You don’t think I can get another job.” But it turns out Joey will keep working for Melissa, as Ryder (Nick Robinson) needs a tutor after getting suspended from school for smoking pot. “I just figured, what’s the harm in trying it?” Ryder pointed out. “So your judgment was worse before you smoked pot?” Melissa asked. While Mel and Joe’s relationship may not be smooth sailing, the show itself is. ABC Family has already ordered a fourth season of "Melissa & Joey," which is a hit in its timeslot. As the A.V. Club notes, "Melissa & Joey" proves that the more classic form ...

WATCH: Joey Lawrence Reveals 'Whoa!' Origins
Huffington Post - about 5 years
Joey Lawrence revealed the origins behind "Whoa!," his popular "Blossom" catchphrase, during a recent appearance on HuffPost Live. "That word was great," Lawrence said. "It's so weird that word has transcended 20 years." Lawrence said he first uttered "whoa" as a joke. "I can only imagine what that word would have been had social media been what it is today. It took off in the course of one night once it hit the airwaves, but with social media, it probably would have been twice as fast." According to Lawrence, "whoa" was written in the script like a surfer dude would say it -- think Keanu Reeves -- but it wasn't getting any laughs. "The executive producer came up to me and said, 'Can you try something else? ... People aren't finding it humorous,'" Lawrence explained. "I don't know where that came from! I just tried it once and did this weird thing and people laughed. They laughed tremendously long. We did a second take and they laughed again." And the rest is TV h...

Joey Lawrence on Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars: "Why the Hell" Would Anyone Sign Up?
US Magazine - over 5 years
When Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars premieres in September, Joey Lawrence will be hard-pressed to find time to tune-in. Offered a spot to compete on this fall's season, which comes three years after his first appearance, Lawrence tells Us Weekly he isn't thrilled with the cast who'll vie for the mirrorball trophy this year. PHOTOS: Look back on DWTS' season 14 "One mirror ball is enough," Lawrence, 36, reasoned to Us at Wednesday's Total Recall premiere in Los Angeles. "[2006 DWTS champ] Emmitt [Smith]'s doing it again. He's got two Super Bowl rings, maybe he needs two mirror balls. Why would you put [six] winners in there, ABC? What are you doing?" he says, referring to returning champs Helio Castroneves, Shawn Johnson, Drew Lachey, Apolo Anton Ohno and Kelly Monaco. Phoebe Robinson: Newsflash: Any Joke Can Be Funny
Huffington Post - over 5 years
So I yelled out, "Actually, rape jokes are never funny!" -Quote from an anonymous woman who heckled Daniel Tosh during his set for talking about rape jokes and then lived to blog about it. Sorry, Jane Doe. Comedy is subjective and any joke can be funny. Note the word "can." Any joke can be funny, but not any joke is funny. Any joke has the potential to be hilarious to you, but more importantly, the joke has the potential to not be funny to you, but to SOMEONE ELSE. I think that people often forget that fact when watching comedy. Just because it is or isn't amusing to you, doesn't mean everyone feels the same way. What led up to the exchange between comedian Daniel Tosh and a female audience member at the Laugh Factory is another example of comedy being subjective. Of course, following the exchange, she blogged about it (a girl after my heart), and as things on the Internet are wont to do, the blog post picked up steam and went viral. If you haven't read her post, you ca...
