Looking Back, The 'Thelma And Louise' Premieres Were SO 1991
Huffington Post - over 1 year
On May 21, 1991, nobody had really heard of Thelma, Louise or Brad Pitt yet. Now, 25 years later, they are all a part of the American cultural zeitgeist. Thelma and Louise represent independence (and how to drive a car off a cliff in style), and Pitt represents how to succeed as a ridiculously handsome person. To celebrate "Thelma and Louise's" 25th anniversary, we went through some photos from the film's California and New York premieres and cannot get enough of Susan Sarandon's Lite Brite dress, Geena Davis's puffy shirt, and that crazy four-year period when Pitt and Juliette Lewis were soooo in love. -- This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms. It may be used for personal consumption, but may not be distributed on a website.

Here's What Happened To Ruby Sue From 'Christmas Vacation'
Huffington Post - about 2 years
Get ready to start sh*tting bricks ... oops, sorry ... sh*tting rocks. It's been 26 years since "Christmas Vacation" debuted and gave us the hap-hap-happiest holiday movie ever. Since that time, many of the actors went on to have huge Hollywood careers, including "Big Bang Theory" star Johnny Galecki and Academy Award nominee Juliette Lewis. But, going against the grain like Eddie's family normally does, one actress from the film actually stayed away from the spotlight. That person is Ellen Hamilton Latzen, aka Ruby Sue, aka the girl who stops you from seeing boobs (her words). Here's Ruby Sue, then and now: Despite it being nearly three decades since the movie's release, Latzen still pretty much looks like the same innocent girl who got her eyes crossed after falling in a well and got them uncrossed after being kicked by a mule. That one day when I had flawless hair. #fbf #likeyoujuststeppedoutofasalon #typicallyuncooperative A photo posted by Ellen Lat...

Superstar Danish DJ MORTEN Talks Travel, His New Single with Juliette Lewis and His Epic Adele Remix
Huffington Post - about 2 years
"It is very important in the world we live in today that we as humans can just let go of what we're doing sometimes and just enjoy ourselves and dance. I love to give people that experience." -- MORTEN The Danes are coming! While the Swedes may have laid claim to a pretty significant parcel of the dance music landscape in recent years, Danish DJ MORTEN is almost single-handedly carving out a slice of the scene on behalf of his fellow countrymen in neighboring Denmark. Could this be the start of a new Danish dance music revolution? Perhaps. Who can say? Music is a fickle thing. But revolution or not, there can be little doubt as to fact that MORTEN is in the midst of a very big moment that kicked off in earnest back in 2008 with a chart-topping, award-winning collaboration between the DJ and Danish pop duo Nik & Jay and has continued through the last several months capping off what can only be described as a very good year musically for the Dane. In addition to pl...

Rock Stars Unite for L.A. Cancer Benefit
Huffington Post - over 2 years
"Nice boys don't play rock 'n' roll," that's what W. Axl Rose sang back when Guns N' Roses covered Rose Tattoo's infectious tune years ago. There isn't much truth to that adage as musicians often band together for a good cause. Most recently, veteran player Dave Kushner (Velvet Revolver) put together The Hellcat Saints who will debut at the El Rey Theatre on Tuesday, November 3 to benefit Rhonda's Kiss, a charity that raises money to help those who receive a diagnosis of any type of cancer but are unable to make ends meet for treatment and support. Joining Kushner will be fellow Saints Duff McKagan (Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver) on bass; guitarists Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction) and Gilby Clarke (Guns N' Roses); and drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle). Featuring a rotating lineup of singers, guests vocalists will include Billy Idol, Juliette Lewis, Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), and Ke$ha, among others. Comedian Bill Burr will kick start the night with a brash ...

‘Secrets And Lies’ Renewed For Season 2, Big Cast Changes Ahead
The Inquisitor - almost 3 years
There’s good news out for Secrets and Lies fans: ABC has renewed the show for Season 2. Everybody was left buzzing after Sunday night’s finale, and luckily, the network didn’t wait too long to reveal the good news. However, the renewal does come with some significant changes. TVLine shared the news about the Secrets and Lies renewal. ABC revealed good news on Thursday for a number of shows, with Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Modern Family, The Bachelor, Dancing With the Stars, How to Get Away With Murder, Nashville, and Castle all getting renewal orders, too. Quite a few other ABC shows were renewed as well, but it wasn’t good news for everybody. The network just handed out some cancellations as well, with The Taste, Forever, and Cristela, along with a couple of other shows, getting the axe. News regarding Last Man Standing has yet to be revealed. For the most part, though, there was very little carnage at ABC compared to the cancellations dealt out at other networks. Of course, as ...

Lindsay Lohan’s A Movie Star Again!
The Superficial - about 4 years
The last movie Lindsay Lohan made went straight to video and was the subject of an amazing New York Times profile on why you should never, ever hire her as an actress. But that was before Oprah took her under her wing to prove that she can take humanity’s trash and repolish it into a marginal actress with a somewhat sustainable career which is exactly how Lindsay Lohan was able to hold a press conference at Sundance without Sherpas appearing and tossing her off a cliff. Via Huffpost: The 27-year-old, who is attempting a comeback after well-documented battles with drugs and legal troubles, came to the independent cinema showcase Monday to say she will produce and star in a film called “Inconceivable,” set to start shooting in March. A crew from OWN, which is airing a reality series about Lohan, filmed the actress’s news conference. Reporters were told that if they asked personal questions, they would be escorted out. And if you think it as amazing as I did that AP writer Sandy C...

The Big O: Will the Academy's Love of Female Ensembles Help August: Osage County?
Huffington Post - about 4 years
What is almost over but has only just begun? The seemingly endless race for the Oscars, of course. With the Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday and Academy Award nominations being announced next Thursday, a solid best-picture front-runner -- most likely 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle or Gravity -- might finally materialize. Then it's onward to March 2, when the Oscar ceremony will at long last take place. Right now, the huffing and puffing over The Wolf of Wall Street, most of which accuse this true story of a crooked stockbroker of being a three-hour glorification of non-stop, outrageously vile male misbehavior, continues to dominate the discussion. Some bean-counter types have even been inspired to keep a tally of the F-words (among other vulgarisms) that pepper Wolf's profusion of profanity. One diligent member of New York magazine's Vulture blog counted a whopping 569 uses. Still, such tsk-tsking over Martin Scorsese's epic about '90s excess and greed hasn't seemed to hurt ...

Meryl the Cat
The Portland Mercury - about 4 years
Meryl Streep goes full monster in August: Osage County by Alison Hallett IN AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, Meryl Streep finally goes full monster. As Violet Weston, the cancer-ridden matriarch of the Weston clan, she sucks cigarette smoke through a mouth full of cancer and spits poison at her nearest and dearest. When her husband disappears after one of their routinely vicious fights, she summons her three daughters home to her side, setting the stage for an epic, toxic, and thoroughly entertaining family showdown. Violet has a pill addiction and a mean streak, and her daughters have coping mechanisms: Ivy (Julianne Nicholson) is withdrawn and self-sufficient; ditzy Karen (Juliette Lewis) bounces from man to man; and while Barbara (Julia Roberts) seems to have the strongest claim to normalcy, she's also the most like her mother. (This is a bad thing.) As the three sisters try to figure out what to do with their sick, aging mom, Violet rails...

Sundance Film Festival 2014 U.S. Competition Entries Feature Kristen Stewart, John Slattery, Lena Dunham
Huffington Post - about 4 years
Our first major glimpse of next year's indie darlings is here, thanks to the newly unveiled lineup for the Sundance Film Festival. Among the offerings for U.S. competition at next year's fest are the first feature film directed by "Mad Men" star John Slattery, a big-screen return from Lena Dunham and the reliable presence of festival-circuit favorites like John Hawkes and director Joe Swanberg ("Drinking Buddies," "LOL"). The competition is also lathered with genre flicks, from the horrific "Cold in July" and "Life After Beth" to the dramedy trappings of "The Skeleton Twins," which stars Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, Luke Wilson and Ty Burrell. Still, A-listers like Kristen Stewart, Anne Hathaway, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Aaron Paul are among the featured players, so we can count on the festival to maintain its usual confluence of obscure movies with ever-popular stars. Here are the 16 movies screening in the U.S. competition. All are receiving their world premieres at Sundance. "...

'It's not relief work in Sudan': Streep on acting
Yahoo News - about 4 years
Meryl Streep is brilliant as a domineering, drug-addicted, cancer-suffering grandmother in her latest film "August: Osage County" but she won't pretend to have the worst job in the world. Violet Weston is a bitter matriarch who bullies, ridicules and insults her dysfunctional relatives as they descend on the family home in Oklahoma for a funeral. Her remarks came weeks after movie star Tom Cruise was quoted in the US media as comparing his job to fighting in Afghanistan. The film, distributed by Weinstein and to be released on Christmas Day, also stars Julia Roberts, Julianne Nicholson and Juliette Lewis as Streep's three on-screen daughters.

13 Facts You Didn't Know About 'Beetlejuice'
Huffington Post - over 4 years
Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! The classic film directed by Tim Burton came out 25 years ago, and tells the story of the recently departed who have become ghosts, and their journey through the Netherworld and our world. As such, what better time than Halloween to educate fans on little known facts and trivia about everyone's favorite "Ghost With the Most"? 1. The original tone was much darker: While "Beetlejuice" deals with death and ghosts, is still often described as a comedy. That wouldn't have been the case if producers had stuck to the original screenplay. As The Playlist noted earlier this year, the original script included more gruesome violence and presented Michael Keaton's title character in this way: "He was envisioned as leather-winged demon whose humanoid form is that of a squat Middle Eastern man (subsequent drafts had him talking in a kind of African American pidgin dialect)." Also, instead of the climatic scene where Beetlejuce tries to marry Lydia (W...
