College Lacrosse Team Takes Field Using Donald Trump Speech
Huffington Post - 10 months
Some college teams take to the field backed by a fight song, but not the Adelphi University Lacrosse Team in Garden City, New York. They’ve been taking to the field backed by the strains of this Donald Trump speech:  “In all of our cities and in all of our towns, I make this promise: We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And we will make America great again! God bless you and good night. I love you!” The team’s unique choice in fight music came to light on Wednesday after Barstool Sports posted a video on Twitter and Instagram. Adelphi Lax bros come out the tunnel to a Trump speech. Somewhere @OldRowOfficial is ready to run through a wall — Barstool Sports (@barstoolsports) May 10, 2017 Although Trump’s presidency has been polarizing, team coach Gordon Purdie insists his players aren’t trying to make a statement. “The men’s lacrosse team has traditionally ...

Goss avoids Tour de France stage crash to fight on
Fox News - over 4 years
An improving Matt Goss missed out on contending victory on stage 10 of the Tour de France, but was ultimately left relieved at not being wiped out of the race completely. Marcel Kittel of Argos dominated a group sprint Tuesday to win the finish gallop ahead of fellow German Andre Greipel, but the stage ended in controversy as his teammate Tom Veelers came crashing down in the last 150 metres. Veelers had slowed down after finishing off leading out Kittel and the Dutchman found himself crashing to the ground at speed after Britain's Mark Cavendish barged into him from the right-hand side. Goss had been sitting just behind Kittel before the German moved up the left-hand side to prepare his winning sprint, only to find himself in a split-second fight for survival. The Aussie had to employ some slick bike-handling skills, veering quickly off to the left, to avoid Veelers as he and his bike spilled across the road. Asked how he avoided crashing, the Orica-GreenEdge man said: "If you c...

2012 Tour de France: Dream comes true for Wiggins
Yorkshire Evening Post - over 5 years
Bradley Wiggins declared “dreams do come true” after becoming the first British winner of the Tour de France. Wiggins completed his 13th day in the yellow jersey and the 99th Tour in first place, three minutes 21 seconds ahead of Team Sky colleague Chris Froome, who became the second Briton, after his team-mate, on the podium in the history of the race. Not content with his personal success, Wiggins played an integral role as world champion Mark Cavendish won the 120-kilometre 20th stage from Rambouillet, sealing victory on the Champs-Elysees for a fourth consecutive year. The realisation of his achievement, a lifelong goal, was beginning to sink in. As he addressed a crowd filled with Britons by the Champs-Elysees, Wiggins said: “We’re just going to draw the raffle numbers now. “Thanks for the amazing support the last three weeks. I really appreciate it. Magical “It’s been a magical couple of weeks. Some dreams do come true. “My old mother over there, her son’s just won the T...

Cancellara has now kept the yellow jersey for a sixth straight day. Greipel won the 122-mile stage from Rouen to Saint-Quentin, avoiding a crash along the way to winning his second stage. Matt Goss of Australia finished in second place while Juan José Hadeo of Argentina came in third. France's Samuel Dumoulin was fourth in Stage 5 while Britain's Matt Cavendish came in fifth. Mark Cavendish wins fifth stage of Giro d’Italia
Isle Of Man Today - almost 6 years
Manx cyclist claims 80th professional victory in Fano BATTERED and bruised, Mark Cavendish sprinted to a second stage victory in this year’s Giro d’Italia on Thursday afternoon, three days after a horrendous crash had left him in a sorry state. Watched by his partner, Peta Todd, who was holding their month-old daughter Delilah, the star Manxman executed another clinical sprint finish to win the 209km stage between Modena and Fano. Fellow Manxman Peter Kennaugh was again part of Sky Procycling’s lead-out train, but when it came down to the final few hundred metres there were only two men in it, Cav and his ex-HTC Highroad team-mate Matt Goss. Now with the Australian Orica-GreenEDGE team, Goss made the early running in a tight finish, but, showing no signs of sluggishness after his hefty fall three days earlier, Cavendish grabbed the reins from 150 metres or more out to take the win by just under one bike’s length. Moving up to fifth on General Classification, it was Cavendish’s 80...

4/13/2012-Mitt Goes It Alone - almost 6 years
I love making political predictions. If I'm right, I look like a genius andif I'm wrong, the people who disagree with me look like geniuses. Eitherway, it's win-win. Predictions, political or not, are usually wrong because any predictiontells more about the moment it was made than what will happen in the future.Scientific instruments can predict the future for weather but only for acouple days in advance. After that, computer projections basically say, "Ifair currents continue as they are, we'll have rain 10 days from now."Experts do the same thing, figuring if things continue as they are, thenthis or that will happen. It's rarely accurate. Predicting Gov. Romney will lose in November can only reflect what hisstatus is at this moment in April and so far, he's way behind the presidentin the polls. So much can happen between now and then. Romney could pick thewrong guy or gal to run as his vice president and fall even farther behind.Or he could pick a savior who might thrust him in fron...
