You\u2019ve heard it before. Spokeo is committed to helping people reconnect – especially families! Whether you haven\u2019t seen your family in months or you talk to your mom twice a day, this week is all about families coming together and being thankful.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re headed to a family member\u2019s house on Thursday and need to bring something with you, there\u2019s nothing better you can do to go the extra mile than offer to bring a dish like mashed potatoes! For newly acquainted families or families who’ve celebrated together for generations, mashed potatoes are a staple to any holiday meal and are a foolproof way to make family members happy and keep you connected for years to come.<\/p>\n

Following is the mashed potato recipe we used for our Adopt-a-Meal night with Union Station Homeless Services<\/a>. We started with the ingredients from Alton Brown\u2019s \u201cCreamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes\u201d<\/a> recipe and made slight alterations to accommodate a group of sixty people. Even after sitting plated for a while, they stayed warm and creamy! We\u2019ve tested it, tried it and can guarantee its yumminess.<\/p>\n

Ingredients from FoodNetwork<\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

-3.5 pounds russet potatoes<\/p>\n

-2 tablespoons kosher salt<\/p>\n

-16 fluid ounces (2 cups) half-and-half<\/p>\n

-6 cloves chopped garlic<\/p>\n

-6 ounces grated Parmesan<\/p>\n

-Black pepper<\/p>\n

Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Peel and cut potatoes. Place in a large pot, add the salt, and cover with water. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to maintain a rolling boil. Continue cooking until potatoes are soft and fall apart when you push them with a fork . Drain the potatoes and place them in a large bowl.<\/p>\n

Rev up some arm power and mash the potatoes down with a potato masher. Add the ingredients slowly as you mash, mixing all of the ingredients together. Salt and pepper to taste and enjoy!<\/p>\n
