Breast Cancer Awareness Month<\/span><\/h2>\n

You know it\u2019s October when you see pumpkin-spiced everything, halloween decor, and NFL players wearing pink jerseys. October was designated National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in 1985 and since then, the <\/span>mortality rate has decreased 39%<\/span><\/a> through education, early detection, and increased funding.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Cancer Survivor\u2019s Story<\/span><\/h2>\n

Mary was living in Texas when she received the news that no one wants to hear. She had breast cancer. \u201cMary, even this journey will have its blessings,\u201d a dear friend told her. <\/span><\/p>\n

This couldn\u2019t have been more true. During her chemotherapy sessions, she met two amazing \u00a0women, Martha and Tammy, with the exact same diagnosis. After going through the same surgeries with the same surgeon and receiving the same treatment, they formed a strong sisterhood \u201cin a club none of them wanted to join.\u201d <\/span>\f<\/span><\/p>\n

After chemotherapy, all 3 women were officially \u201csurvivors!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mary says, “Gotta keep a sense of humor battling the beast that is breast cancer!”<\/p>\n

Spokeo Helps Cancer Survivors Reconnect<\/span><\/h2>\n

Fast forward ten years, Mary receives a phone call from Tammy about a serious recurrence. Tammy had a bilateral mastectomy and wanted to get in touch with her \u201csisters\u201d for support. After trying to reach Martha to no avail, Mary turned to Spokeo for help. She performed a <\/span>name<\/span><\/a> search and was provided with a phone number and an email address. <\/span><\/p>\n

Success! Martha responded to Mary\u2019s email immediately. They have all gotten back in touch with each other and received positive news: Tammy\u2019s prognosis is good! <\/span><\/p>\n

Mary has advice to anyone going through cancer treatment, \u201cStay positive, keep your sense of humor, and watch for God\u2019s blessings along the way.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n
