Are they using AI in their current role? Do they think it will impact their industry? And do they have any concerns about it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By surveying 1,027 respondents who are active in the workplace, we uncovered a range of perceptions \u2013 both positive and negative \u2013 about AI at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Findings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>74.8% are concerned<\/strong> AI will impact their industry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>18-24 year olds<\/strong> were least concerned about AI\u2019s impact on the industry (66%) and <strong>over 65\u2019s<\/strong> were most concerned (80.8%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>78.1%<\/strong> believe AI could <strong>reduce some of the stresses<\/strong> of the job, either now or in the future &nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Industries thought to be positively impacted by AI:<\/strong> Technology, Agriculture, and Manufacturing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>66.6% believe AI could do their job&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>76.7%<\/strong> think AI will <strong>reduce the number of working days<\/strong> in the week for the average American<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">74.8% are concerned AI will impact their industry<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Three quarters of survey participants (74.8%) had concerns about AI impacting their industry. This attitude was broadly consistent across genders and ages. Female respondents were slightly less concerned AI would impact their industry negatively compared to male respondents (72.5% compared with 76.6%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The age groups which were least and most fearful of AI\u2019s impact on their industry were also the oldest and youngest age brackets in the study: with 66% of 18-24 year olds showing concern rising to 80.8% of over 65s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/l2pYwf0iTf93D8_UOHh1Gut_NyLszd4jZlrWdk0CTuyMW3dscbZdXu3TF5aLTytmBtYkds0Xyj3u5ANiBnPolLCqQK1H-aV5Q3g2fl8k3q5SpKdMEPcb9eitjpPUxyfI-WS4WwEBYGtssSP9zZWP-3I\" style=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the biggest concerns were AI\u2019s impact on future salary increases (34.4%) and worries that AI might replace their job (34.3%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/gL_ty6DjL6R6Uc6HjFWevmJ1qgcRSPCv7PU_gXbUVNatKkelQf94n9Pxz5dkTRjF-a8c8fCVWcQIQgEyX_6iEFo7ecHJObKyQvFoG-jMHu84cxuxb0Ngrx1yS7Cz8uu3c3c5drjmUtZZA6L2igVJASg\" style=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">78.1% believe AI could reduce some of the stresses of the job, either now or in the future<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>However, more than three quarters (78.1%) of Americans also believe that AI could make their job less stressful, either now or in the future. The majority of Americans, 79.1% of respondents, thought employers should offer training for utilizing ChatGPT and AI tools within their roles \u2013 indicating a desire to not get left behind and to take proper advantage of the new tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other benefits of AI include increased productivity, cited by 40.2% of respondents. Only 7.7% of those surveyed felt the new technology was of no benefit at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/dEYqMPbxk6Hzu8EruvPjOKnUImA-H4OyBstEvGSKi6YWkrUj0vYc7cDrxHMjrH5c8KoHIs1tynB2RXVIxrzFNYVra7Cr_1p3GS-SWZa_XbILXuodti7zWOr37EWJzAYAylbS6rtTsKCobGcVFPAsNXk\" style=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Industries thought to be positively impacted by AI: Technology, Agriculture, and Manufacturing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The industries that respondents thought will be most positively impacted are Technology (51.3%), Agriculture (50.6%), and Manufacturing (46.8%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is interesting to note that a similar percentage of Americans felt industries would either be negatively affected by AI or not affected at all. The majority of Americans seem to agree. In fact, three quarters of respondents (76.7%) believed that AI could help them work fewer days in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/jQKe5d5UJHDGaEBbpTsHwwYthkWRBZS1P6ax4XicC0MR3Hff_PfryQSprvNu3ZIyn3Awf1XPyDpHvYcVJWvSdPomXpcQy5RidEJEeXXLuyrR22ZuJJu7t4pZb5RrdQkqZeaAh-Y17tHPHAjCZJFfwxQ\" style=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite some concerns about the impact of AI on their industry, 62.8% of people said they would be for AI if they could receive the same income and the technology could reduce the number of working days in the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, people think AI could help not only reduce the amount of work they do, but it could also reduce the stress of their existing job and workload. 78.1% of respondents felt AI could reduce their work related stress overall, concluding an overwhelming majority who do also see numerous personal benefits to incorporating AI in its current form and as it continues to improve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the study suggests that although Americans are wary of the potential consequences of AI technology, with the right training by employers, most people also see the potential benefits that the technology may reap in the workplace &#8211; both professionally and for their own personal well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Methodology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Using Amazon\u2019s survey platform, we surveyed 1,097 Americans in October 2023 about topics relating to AI and its impact on their industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The breakdown of the people we surveyed was as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Age ranges:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>18-24 &#8211; 4.58%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>25-34 &#8211; 32.6%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>35-44 &#8211; 44.1%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>45-54 &#8211; 11.7%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>55-64 &#8211; 4.5%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>65+ &#8211; 2.5%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Gender:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Female &#8211; 50.6%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Male &#8211; 47.5%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non-binary &#8211; 1.7%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prefer not to say &#8211; 0.2%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Which industries are most worried about AI and why?
