10. Mariel Zagunis<\/a><\/strong> –\u00a0For the fourth time in the last seven summer Olympics, the U.S. has chosen a woman to bear the flag in the Opening Ceremonies.\u00a0\u00a0Zagunis –\u00a0a fencer –\u00a0is only the second American to ever take the gold in the Olympic sport.<\/p>\n

9. Brady Ellison<\/a><\/strong> -The archer from Glendale, Ariz. is thought to be a favorite for the Gold.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>8. \u00a0McKayla Maroney <\/a><\/strong>–\u00a0The 2011 World Vault Champion has re-injured a broken toe, but still plans to compete in the event to defend her title.<\/p>\n

7. Timmy Duggan<\/a><\/strong> –\u00a0This young cyclist\u00a0is all healed (during a competition in 2007, he crashed and suffered a severe head injury)\u00a0and ready to take his five-man U.S. men\u2019s road cycling\u00a0team to the finish line on Saturday.<\/p>\n

6. Ashton Eaton<\/a><\/strong> –\u00a0This American Decathlete holds the world record in both the decathlon and heptathlon events and is a clear favorite for the games this summer.<\/p>\n

5. Maya Moore<\/a><\/strong> –\u00a0In college, she lead an undefeated Connecticut to an National Championship and is currently\u00a0a\u00a0forward with the Minnesota Lynx (WNBA).<\/p>\n
