its a scam.. This is an important message from Appalachian power we are calling regarding a work order our field personnel have for your address if you are the responsible party for the electric service and have your account number or Social Security number available please contact Appalachian power at 1-866-715-3526 again the toll-free number is 1-866-715-3526 thank you SCAM ALERT! Thieves are calling our customers, threatening to shut off power unless an immediate payment is made. Appalachian Power never asks for pre-paid debit cards for payment. Please use our authorized payment methods, and call us at 800-956-4237 if you have questions or concerns. Also they dont ask you for your social security # !!! Just ask my neighbor.. they got took for over $500.. and still had to pay the legit bill on top of that..

NOT A SCAM!! This is indeed American Electric Power, if they call about "scheduled work at your home," chances are that you are being disconnected from service and they are giving you a heads-up and a chance to pay the bill! They call 2 days prior to service disconnect.
