“In 1980, at the age of 20, I was traveling through the United States from Boston to California. As I was driving by myself coming from a summer course at Harvard University, a friend asked me to drop by his place in Chicago to stay overnight. I welcomed the invitation. When I arrived at his home, he was not around, but his brother, Nick, was there. Nick was so kind to attend to me while his brother, George, was out. Nick asked if I wanted to walk by the shore of Michigan Lake, so we did. As we sat by the shore, Nick and I spoke about God, religion, and life. It was such a deep and life-changing conversation for me. Later that night, George arrived and we caught up. I left for California the next day to return back to college. After graduating from Menlo School of Business, I left to go back to my country, since I was a student from the Philippines. Years passed and I never forgot about that night with Nick. I started to attend Bible studies and my life slowly transformed. Little did I know that one day I would commit my life full-time to be a pastor of a church. Today, I speak to hundreds of thousands of people and travel around the world and touch people’s lives with the gospel.
