Calling all Search Angels!

It’s been a busy month for us. We started out with a request for veterans who are deserving of free accounts to find their military friends and now we’re looking for Search Angels (volunteers who donate their time to reuniting adoptees and others impacted by family separation search for their families!). A couple of weeks ago, we shared some information about our partnership with Mixed Roots Foundation to honor Search Angels and we’re now ready to begin accepting nominations for the awards. We’ll be accepting nominations starting today, through Friday, November 30.

We want to hear about these amazing souls and the great work that they’ve done. This time we’re not just giving out free accounts; those who win the Spokeo Search Angel Awards will receive a cash grant provided by the Mixed Roots Foundation’s Spokeo Search Angel Fund, a one-year Spokeo account AND the opportunity to have reunion costs covered for matches that they make during their year as “Spokeo Search Angels.”

Who's Calling Me?

Search any phone number to learn more about the owner!

We are so excited about this effort not only because we want to honor giving volunteers, but because we have had the opportunity to work with amazing individuals and organizations to launch it. We are a technology company with a major expertise in people search… not so much in adoption, so along with partnering with Mixed Roots, we formed an advisory committee of experts and star search angels to help guide the way. The committee has not only helped us shape the program thus far, but they will also be the group reviewing the nominations and helping select the Search Angel Award Winners!

Ladies and gentlemen, we are so excited to introduce you to our amazing advisory committee:

We tip our hats to these talented individuals and are so grateful for their guidance and support thus far. But their job is only half way done! We can’t wait to read and discuss the inspiring stories of search angels across the nation.

Please help us spread the word about this great program so that we can help as many families as possible! You can visit our site www.spokeoangels.com to learn more about the program and submit your nomination.

I would like to nominate Kellie Walls Sharp for the Search Angel Award. She has been an absolute angel to me! She has bent over backward to help find my daughter & her support has kept me going! She has also been instrumental in helping countless others as well!

Are there any adoptees on this panel?
Vanessa November 19, 2012 - 11:28 am
Hi Kate, Yes, we definitely have adoptee representation on the panel. Holly Bachman from the Mixed Roots Foundation is an adoptee and Johnny Madrid is not an adoptee, but he came out of the foster care system.

I would like to nominate "My Search Angel" Patty Lodgson Drabing. She worked tirelessly searching for my birthfamily including reading my DNA results. She also listened long hours into the night when I was having a rough time dealing with my search. Patty showed me compassion & love when I needed it most. I am now in reunion because she never gave up!

I would like to nominate Connie Gray known on facebook as Tejas Angel, she is incredible. She has taken the training for CI in arizona at her own expense, so that she can better serve adoptees in her own state of Texas. She has been unstopable in the search for my black market adoptee sister Rachel, and has always been a tremendous help in the search for my own bio family. She even paid for a dna test for me when I was unable to do so, and is always there to offer support and excellent advice through my journey. She is an adoptee, and a RN, extremely knowledgable about DNA, and offers DNA services at her own cost, as well as maintaining and paying for a gazillion registries. She has helped me navigate the labyrinth of DNA and GEDCOMS and all the other scientific jargon that us literary geeks are lost in. She works countless hours helping reunite and search, and has formed a nonprofit search group in Texas

I would like to nominate my Search Angel Heather Dodd. she stayed up late nights listening to me and prepared me for anything that I might find and spent endless hours working to get my case solved. Not to mention Heathers endless hours working to get the bills passed in MO. so more of us ccan have our rights restored. If I could choose 2 of the most hard working Search angels out there it would be her and Patty who most deserve this Honnor!

I'd like to nominate my Search Angel Ilona Orth. She and my other Angels, worked self-lessly in finding my b/m and b/f plus 4 of my other siblings who were adopted. She went that extra mile and located. Being born in Germany, I didn't know where to begin. Ilona and others, put in countless hours of searching until my bioligical parents and siblings were found! Much more than I ever dreamed possible! I'm forever grateful to Ilona and all who made my reuion possible! Without her, I'd still be searching, wondering, and trying to fill the void of the 'missing pieces of the puzzle'. Thanks Ilona!!!

Thanks so much for your nomination! Unfortunately nominations have already closed for this year's awards, but we look forward to hearing more about the great work of Ilona in the future. Please be sure to check http://www.spokeoangels.com for more information.
