Famous Folks with Christmas Birthdays!

A Christmas birthday can be awesome or terrible, depending on how you look at it. Some people hate sharing their special day with the one of the biggest holidays of the year while others revel in the extra celebration (and double gifts!) that a Christmas birthday naturally entails.

No matter which camp you’re in, odds are you probably know someone who shares a birthday with a major holiday…but did you know these famous folks were born on Christmas?

Humphrey Bogart

Bet you didn’t know that one of the major film actors of the last century shared a birthday with Jesus himself! Bogart, star of such films as Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon celebrated his birthday on Christmas Day every year, although there was a minor argument over whether the special day really was his actual birthdate as some suggested Warner Brothers changed his birthday to Christmas to counteract his reputation as an on-screen villain. Turns out, truth is stranger than fiction.

Dido

Remember Dido? The “Thank You” singer shot to fame after a duet with Eminem in the early aughts but the British songstress had actually been making music across the pond for years. Now that she has a young son, Dido says she’s looking forward to the day when he realizes Christmas is actually mummy’s birthday, too!

Jimmy Buffett

The original resident of Margaritaville was born on Christmas Day in Mississippi back in 1946. Buffett says he never resented sharing a birthday with Christmas and actually even released a holiday album in 1996 with a liner note calling himself, “the Christmas war baby turned island boy…”

Sissy Spacek

Sissy Spacek (real name “Mary Elizabeth”) is not only a three-time Golden Globe winner but an Oscar winner, too. Her career-defining role was as Stephen King’s Carrie in the 1970s but she’s been everything from an extra in Andy Warhol’s “Factory” to the star of a new Netflix drama called “Bloodline.” Born on Christmas in Texas, Spacek came by her nickname via her brothers.

Demaryius Thomas

As a wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, Thomas has had a lot to celebrate the last few Christmases. Growing up, though, a turbulent family life undoubtedly made the most wonderful time of the year anything but for the Georgia native. This year it’s hard to imagine Thomas wants anything but a win over the Bengals during Monday Night Football on December 28th!

Isaac Newton (Honorable Mention)

Isaac Newton was one of the greatest minds the world has ever known, but contrary to popular belief he was not born on Christmas day. At the time of his birth in the mid-1600s, the Julian calendar was still in effect, making Newton’s birthday “December 25th.” But by all accords – and thanks to his own work in the field of celestial motion – we now know that Newton was actually born on January 4th using today’s calendar.

Do you have a Christmas birthday or know someone who does?
