Chances are, if you were online yesterday you read about at least one of three things: 1. #theDress (turns out it IS blue/black), 2. Llamas on the loose! or finally, about the historic decision by the Federal Communications Commission on net neutrality

In sum, the FCC’s decision approves a proposal that would treat the internet as a public utility allowing the agency to implement regulations. ISPs are now barred from creating slow lanes/fast lanes to certain sites and/or charging certain content creators more money to allow users faster access to their content.

Though this is simply one decision in what we’re sure will be years of continued lawsuits and decision-making, we’re excited that the consumers have benefitted from this first battle for a free and open internet. Spokeo’s mission is to provide easy access to publicly available information to millions of users throughout the United States, thus democratizing access to data for all. We stand firm supporting any decision that allows consumers access to the content options of their choice and at the speed of their choice.
