Honoring Search Angels for National Adoption Month: A Reunion Story

November is the official month-long recognition of adoption awareness in the U.S. with National Adoption Day taking place on November 23. Organizations nation-wide are doing their part to drive awareness about adoption- from promoting the adoption of children in waiting to publicizing resources for those in adopted families.

At Spokeo, we’re about helping people reconnect and lend our support to those looking to do so. We focus on the volunteers, known as search angels, that help adoptees or family members in search of one another.  Lindsay was an adoptee who wanted to find “someone that looks like [her]” and contacted the Spokeo Search Angels program through our Facebook page. We paired her with Mary Wilson and within a couple weeks Lindsay found her birth mother Cynthia. Take a look at their reunion story to learn more.

A fearless search angel not only reunited Lindsay and Cynthia, but also the FOUR generations of family who were there to share in the occasion.  Search angels play such a critical role in the search and reunion process, serving as an expert researcher and coach that helps prepare them for the event emotionally.  Share your thoughts here or by using #nationaladoptionmonth #searchangels on Twitter as we recognize National Adoption month throughout the next few weeks.
