Happy 47th Anniversary A Charlie Brown Christmas!

by Spokeo

“…And that’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.”

We all remember laughing at Snoopy as he decorated his doghouse for the neighborhood lights and display contest and the heartwarming triumph we felt when Lucy, Linus and the rest of the Peanuts gang “revived” the drooping Christmas tree.

Can you believe that yesterday was the 47th anniversary of “A Charlie Brown Christmas?” It’s true. The special executive-produced by Lee Mendelson, directed by Bill Melendez and written by Charles M. Schulz was first aired on CBS on December 9, 1965 when half of all televisions in America tuned in. The actors who voiced the Peanuts gang were only children. Peter Robbins, the voice of Charlie, was only eight, and Kathy Steinberg, who voiced Charlie Brown’s younger sister, Sally, was even too young to read!

The special won an Emmy and Peabody award and has continued to air every year over the holiday season. The music, composed by Vince Guaraldi, continues to live on in our holiday tunes playlists. As we get into the holiday spirit here at Spokeo, we hope you always hold true to whatever Christmas is all about for you and your family.

We hope you enjoy getting to know the characters and crew  further through searching our Famous People pages, and be sure to watch the heart-warming special scheduled to air this year on December 18 on ABC.
