It’s almost time for the annual race that attracts audiences that don’t know a thing about horses. Dust off your hats, put down your juleps and take a moment to learn a bit more about a few of the jockeys contending in the 2012 Kentucky Derby:
- Mike E. Smith: With 4-1 odds, Mike and “Bodemeister” are the favorites for the 2012 Derby.
- Calvin Borel: Calvin rides “Take Charge Indy” who finished first in the Florida Derby just a few weeks ago in March.
- Jon Court: The odds are against them at 50-1 but apparently for Jon’s horse, “Optimizer,” stamina is not an issue.
- Julien Leparoux: “Union Rags” and Julien finished first in the Fountain of Youth race at Gulf Stream Park last February.
